Anat Zeltzer and Modi Bar-On first met in the hallways of Israeli Educational Television on the youth magazine show Hakol Patuach ("Everything is Open"). There, while filming a special episode on Theodor Herzl's visit to the Land of Israel, they discovered not only a shared passion for local history, but also an artistic language that allowed them to bring that passion to the screen.
This encounter launched an extraordinary creative partnership that spanned nearly a quarter of a century. Together, they produced an extensive body of work combining in-depth documentary storytelling with an intelligent, accessible approach. The duo created several milestone series on Israeli television, including Hakol Anashim ("It's All People"), which became a staple in the education system; In the Land of the Jews, an Academy Award-winning series tracing the history of local humor and entertainment; as well as Tel Aviv-Yafo, The Kibbutz, Route 90, Just One More Story, and Homeland Lesson.
Through their collaboration, they succeeded in deconstructing and rebuilding Israeli myths, bridging archival history with reality, and connecting the personal to the national.
Modi Bar-On passed away in 2022.

The city with a hyphen at its heart. How Tel Aviv was born out of Jaffa, yet convinced itself it was born from the sands. The series follows the city’s trajectory of development—from Jaffa northward across the Yarkon River, and then back to the city center, reviving it as a coveted real estate treasure. Read more >
What is it about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict that prevents it from ending? Is what happened between us truly so unforgivable and insoluble? These are the questions "Homeland Lesson" seeks to answer. The series returns to the roots of the conflict, retracing the collision course that led from the Balfour Declaration (the "deal of the century" of its time) to the war that shaped and fixed the conflict to this day—the 1948 War.
